At work, the therapists try to make it fun for the patients, so around most any kind of holiday, we try to decorate the gym and make it fun. Correction. The therapists get the patients to make the decorations and we turn it into therapy. So, above are a couple of photos of the patients hard work. For Valentine's Day, they made hearts and had to walk to the door and apply it themselves. When you are learning how to walk again, this can be tough. For Mardi Gras, they made masks, example above, and later in the day we had a parade for the long-term care patients, where some of the masks that were made were given as gifts. We had a blast!

To Be a Child

Last night, my sister and I realized that the party had quieted down a good bit. Uh-oh, where are the nephews? I asked this because they are two and one year old. Now you understand. Well, we discovered them in the fireplace. Don't worry, the key was not within the reach of their chubby fingers, but the soot and ashes sure were. Despite being covered head to toe and having turned the color gray, they were having a blast. They were learning even though they would not have described it that way. It made me appreciate them as children, their age and curious nature. When we brought them up to their parents, everyone panicked for a brief moment, which quickly turned in to laughter and the cameras started coming out, along with the baby wipes. Granted, if they were five years older, the situation probably would have been addressed differently, however, we can learn from children. Don't be afraid to get dirty and enjoy the small things in life. Let loose and live a little, but maybe not in the fireplace! :) Unfortunately, I do not have a picture to share with you.
