It's interesting...

...how much adults continue to act like children. For example, I have interacted with many children with behavioral problems as a result of their immediate surroundings. This sounds like something negative happened to the child, but that isn't always true, at least that is our perception. They could have a new baby sibling or an older brother or sister could have started school. Regardless, when a child is caught up in change, sometimes their little hearts and brains struggle with digesting all the new stimuli and it manifests itself in tantrums, defiance, disobedience, etc. You want to know the interesting thing? Adults act out this way too... I know I'm guilty. Oh, goodness, we never grow up.

I hate hair products.

After experiencing the trial run for wedding day hair, this is what I was left with once I took out about 30 bobbypins. I love how the stylist exclaimed, "You have such healthy hair! I'm not use to that, so we are going to have to 'dirty' up your hair with products." Nice.

My friend walked out to her sister's car, which she was borrowing for the weekend, assuming it would be able to take her from point A to point B. As you can see, she was wrong. How do people sleep at night? Come to find out, the stolen tires and wheels were relocated off of Craig's List. Crazy!

Confirmation

About an hour ago, I had the privilege of seeing a three hour old baby in all his perfection and being able to welcome him to the world. While I can't remember what exactly I verbalized to him, I know that he amazed me and I was in awe of him. Babies are one of the ways that God reminds me that He is in control and is my Creator. Only Someone that big can create something so wonderful and tiny, caring about every last detail.

CSA Bounty

I'm part of the Cane Creek Farm CSA with a pick-up that takes place every Friday. What you see in the photo is not even half of what I received today. I love being part of the CSA as it helps local farmers, the food is as organic as possible and everything I receive is fresh. Also, I have learned a lot about different kinds of vegetables and how to cook new recipes. You can't buy a tomato like that at the grocery store!

No worries...

...it fades. One of my co-workers gave me this beautiful henna tattoo. She is amazing and shared that while living in India, she entered henna competitions. I'm thinking about doing this on one of my hands for the wedding. The design you see, a peacock, is authentic to Indian weddings which represents love.

Happy Independence Day!

What a great day we had! Not only were Matt and I able to spend our first 4th as a couple together, but there were plenty of festivities to help us celebrate.

Check this yucky thing out! He's huge and no wonder...he's been feasting on the tomatoes! So yucky. I took care of him. He is now well removed from what he thought was his throne.

Ice Cream Incident

You are walking down the street, minding your own business, enjoying a pint of ice cream, when all of a sudden half the pint mysteriously jumps out of the cup and lands on your shirt. What do you do? Well, since I now have experience in this area, lick your shirt as best you can, determine you are now going to eat the entire pint despite knowing you will be sick as a dog later on and walk home with your head held high. This is done not out of pride, because if you don't, as a person with long hair, the drying ice cream on your shirt acts as glue. I'm thankful tomorrow is Friday...

The company Matt works for had a family day that actually started during work hours, pretty cool, and if you noticed, they allowed beer also. That kind of environment really builds morale. I need to change professions. :)

Some of life's lessons

We all enjoyed playing outside and getting dirty from head to toe.

At one point, we even got the boys to help weed the garden a little bit.

This weekend, most of the kids babysat the boys on and off. I spent a little time with them everyday and had a blast. On Friday, Uncle Matt and I were able to run around the front yard and show them how lightning bugs' rearends light up. Very important to know! Then Matt had a deep theological discussion with Will. Very interesting! We closed out the evening with Will informing Matt that he wants more cousins, if you know what I mean. I believe we informed him 'one day' or something to that extent. The above photos and following clips are from the fun we had on Saturday. Kids are great!

I say that since the majority of my posts over the last month or so have been on gardening. Those that actually look at this blog may be getting tired of looking at photos of veggies, however, I think it is all fascinating. :)

Welcome Zsa Zsa

Zsa Zsa is the newest member of the family. She is a rescue dog and is becoming somewhat accustomed to the noise and active lifestyle of the family (nephews). She is incredibly sweet, a bit skittish and we are happy to have her.

Hand Washing

Last night I was at my mom's house and the nephews happened to be over. It came time for dinner and I offered to help wash up the boys. Will, almost three, came in the bathroom first, so I scooped him up on the stool in front of the sink and preceded to help him was his hands. Meanwhile, Logan, one and a half, comes in behind us and figures he can wash his hands in the toilet, which he reasons will do just as good a job. Needless to say, Logan's chubby hands were washed again. It was a cute experience and when I shared it with Matthew, his wise self related it to how we think we are helping God out. All we are actually doing is messing up and washing our hands in the toilet, yet God always scoops us up, and washes us off the proper way, in the sink.

Augusta Fish Fry

This was introduced to me as "redneck topsy-turvy" and whether it is or not, I'm sure it's more economical. :)

Jayme invited me up to Augusta to take part in her family's annual fish fry. Oh, my goodness!
The food was awesome and it was nice to meet some of her family and learn about gardening or rather farming. Thanks for the tour Denise! Thank you hostess and host!
