Pobresito!

My poor husband is sick and as many of us do when we are ill, has let himself go these past couple of days. Now, I love his hair. I wish he would wear it like this on an everyday basis. If you have curls, share them with the world! As you can guess, I have straight hair. He gave me permission to share these photos, so everything you see here has been verified and is not an act of revenge.

Revisiting Fabric Flowers

This is the second time I have attempted making fabric flowers. With this go around, there has been the absence of wedding planning stress, which has been nice and I learned a good bit from the first attempt. Overall, this sewing frenzy was much more successful, enjoyable and produced a better product.

Trying Something New

Well, I'm not sure what it is exactly. I guess it could be an ornament, or get rid of the string and it could serve as a coaster. Whatever one chooses it to be, it was good to work with felt and learn about the different kinds, as well as practice with varying stitches. Oh...I'm a nerd. :) So, what do you think? Not about my nerdiness, but about the no name craft shown in the picuture. What do you think it is or could become?

Jammin'!

During our jam session, G'Pa provided the music, intermittent Spanish lyrics of songs I didn't recognize.
Well, making jam is easier than I thought, as well as relatively mess free if you are as efficient as my sister. I love learning new things. Stuff like this is especially neat because it makes all those gradeschool science classes come to life and make more sense and it is functional too. My sister, who is quite science savvy, was a great teacher.

After four quarts of strawberries, a great stress reducing mash session, fourteen, yes, I said fourteen cups of sugar, boiling and adding pectin...17 and 1/2-8 ounce jars of strawberry jam.

We taste tested it, of course, and it tingled the taste buds! I'm intersted to see if they all sealed well and don't grow anything funky.

What a day!

Losing my cell phone, being woken up by my parent's dog at 3:30am due to fear from pounding thunder and not falling asleep until 5am only for the alarm to go off around 6am, stepping in dog poo as I'm walking the dog that caused me to lose sleep, getting in a wreck in the work parking lot in the misting rain and finally coming home to the apartment to find dog pee on the floor and the high schooler next door sharing her teenage angst with us via her drumset.

Good Idea!

I think having a comfy chair in the back of your car is an excellent idea. I mean, why not? What if you are stuck in ridiculous Atlanta traffic? Just scoot to the back, pull out a good book and relax!

Our First Christmas

Kids Christmas '09

Logan realized all the adults were consumed with the Steal-A-Gift game, he took it as his opportunity to sneak some cake.

This photo speaks for itself. :)

They have morphed and are willing to take the other's life for a stuffed, square-shaped object that protects the skull! Hurry, someone do something!

The ever growing family!

Painting Lessons

Couple of firsts, painting with a palette knife and with acrylic.

The above three photos involve my first painting, obviously a fruit bowl, using oils and learning about shadows, reflection, mixing colors and adding detail. The bananas made me want to cuss!
